Timolynn Sams: Looking Forward

Timolynn Sams works with the Neighborhoods Partnership Network. She is also involved in NOLA Women for a Change- a diverse group of women who have come together to invest in the success of New Orleans by educating, inspiring, and empowering women through civic and community engagement. Timolynn is also a mother of a 12 year old, which places her in PTO’s, booster clubs, and various groups. Timolynn credits her personal life for pushing her in her professional life to be more civically engaged.

Timolynn declares New Orleans as a unique city in its own right, teeming with adventure and culture. She sees the city as constantly reinventing itself and very cosmopolitan – far ahead of other cities that have tried to duplicate many of the things we’ve been able to accomplish. New Orleans is a laboratory that is rich in culture and history.

Timolynn would like to see a real investment in the people of New Orleans. According to Timolynn, one of the beauties of working with NPN is that it’s given her a deep appreciation of the uniqueness of each neighborhood in a holistic framework. She’d like to see the investment in playgrounds to be more than just swings and sliding boards, but more walking paths, dog parks, water fountains, and clean bathrooms- a place where people want to go.

Timolynn’s definition of Vision is the possibility of greatness. Vision is the opportunity that in most cases reality won’t allow you to see. It’s beyond a dream it’s where the intangible, becoming tangible.

Timolynn was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and currently resides in the Milneburg neighborhood. She has worn glasses since the 1st grade.
