Dr. Bank came to New Orleans in 1983 to work for Dr. Charles Glaser, his current partner in St. Charles Vision. He established his practice at the Severn Ave. location in 1986, and remains there today.
Dr. Bank earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 1978, where he distinguished himself by being selected for Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1977 and being elected to Alpha Epsilon Delta, an Academic Honor Society for Medical Degrees, in 1978. He earned his optometry degree from the prestigious Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in 1979. During his senior year, he completed three highly regarded clinical rotations, and was one of only 12 students selected to Gold Key Honor Society for excellence in academics and leadership.
Board Certified in therapeutic medications in Louisiana, Texas and Florida, Dr. Bank has also earned National Board Certification and has completed the International Association of Board of Examiners’ Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease Certification.
Dr. Bank is a member of the Louisiana State Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the Contact Lens Section of the A.O.A. After extensive testing, he was also granted a Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 1994, an accomplishment achieved by only 3% of his colleagues.
Dr. Bank is an active member of the New Orleans Community, currently serving as Legislative Committee Chairman of the New Orleans Optometric Zone and the Jewish Family Service Teen Life Counts Board. He and his wife Melissa have four children. Outside the office, Dr. Bank is an avid golfer and enjoys working out daily.
