Dr. James C. McGuinness, O.D.

Dr. McGuinness became a partner in St. Charles Vision Outlet in 1994, establishing practices at Elmwood and Veterans Boulevard (which has since moved to Chateau in Kenner). He specializes in hard-to-fit contact lens patients and is the spokesperson for the firm’s efforts to educate the public about Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Dr. McGuinness graduated from Holy Cross High School and earned his B.S. Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of New Orleans, where he was recognized for a number of academic distinctions. He studied Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

He returned to New Orleans, where he served as clinical director at Stevenson Medical/Surgical Eye Center, working with pre- and post-operative surgical patients. He has vast experience in the management of eye disease, and has served as clinical coordinator for numerous drug studies.

He lives in the Bayou St. John Neighborhood of New Orleans with his wife, Marlena.
