Charles G. Glaser, O.D., a native New Orleanian, received a B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1970 and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1974 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. While in optometry school, Dr. Glaser was a dean’s list student with an emphasis in contact lenses.
Upon graduation, Dr. Glaser joined the Ophthalmology Department of Ochsner Clinic, where he assisted patients and taught resident doctors the theory and application of contact lens fitting.
In 1976, after gaining valuable experience in ocular diseases and contact lenses at Ochsner Clinic, Dr. Glaser opened the first location of St. Charles Vision in Boutte, LA. Now, over twenty-five years later, he has formed a partnership with Dr. Ivan Bank, Dr. Jim McGuinness, Dr. Kristi Cook, Dr. Stephen Warren, Dr. Ty Primo, and Dr. Tim Leach in nine St. Charles Vision offices located throughout the metro region.
Dr. Glaser is Louisiana State Board certified in therapeutic medications, Tennessee State Board certified, and Nationally Board certified. He is a member of the Louisiana State Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the contact lens section of the A.O.A.
Dr. Glaser has been involved in many non-profit community organizations and currently sits on the Board of Directors of Touro Synagogue and The Lighthouse for the Blind. He is an avid bicyclist and enjoys gardening, running, and hiking. Dr. Glaser’s spouse Cathy Glaser is the Regional Director of The Anti-Defamation League and they have three children, Alex (18), Rachel (17), and Maggie (14).
