Look Better with Optricks!

Optricks is the ability of a well-trained optician to match facial features and frames together to complement and accentuate our best facial features while downplaying others.

Balance is essential in all areas of life:  home decorating, balance of work and home, balance of face.  Any new frame will represent a change and will look strange to the patient.  Change is not something most of us like.  Thus, there are guidelines, or basics that should be used to arrive at an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable frame.

For example, the model shown on the right has an oblong face shape.  In order to minimize the length of her face, a frame which rests a third of the way down the length of her face, in essence, "cuts" the face in thirds and thus "breaks" the length by lowering the temples.

Do's and Don'ts

Never copy the shape of the face: never fit a round frame on a round face or a square frame on a square-shaped face.

This model is wearing a frame that is NOT best suited for her face shape.  This frame accentuates the length and point of her chin.  With an inverted triangle-shaped face, an unobtrusive metal or rimless work well.  Keep in mind that the further out the frames extend from the sides of the head, the pointier the chin will look.  Thus, the frame should be a minimal width that stays within current fashion lines.

A patient will save considerable time when choosing to work with a qualified Optician as those staffed by St. Charles Vision.
