Allen Eskew: Looking Forward

Allen Eskew is the founding Principal of architecture firm Eskew+Dumez+Ripple. Recent projects under his leadership include the Reinventing the Crescent Riverfront Development Plan and the ongoing development of Champions’ Square public plaza adjacent to the Superdome.

After pursuing his design career in other cities, Allen decided to embed his roots in his home state of Louisiana and in the historically rich fabric of the City of New Orleans. In seeing the future of our city, Allen would like to see the full implementation of the 6-mile “Reinventing the Crescent” Development Plan, on the east bank of the Mississippi River from the French Quarter to Jackson Avenue. The first phase includes a 1.5 miles linear park with focus on a pavilion in the historic Mandeville Wharf Shed, a dog park, children’s play area, and green space throughout. He would also like to see the development of a world-class performance hall for our native music- Jazz- in celebration of New Orleans’ tri-centennial anniversary in 2018.

Allen’s definition of Vision is clarifying strategic catalytic opportunities so that tactical implementation plans and economic development can follow.

He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and has been wearing glasses for 40 years.
